The story behind The Alchemist

The Alchemist is about the part of making music that still feels like magic to me, when a few unremarkable sounds suddenly turn into something you feel in your chest.

I kept the arrangement patient on purpose. The track opens with almost nothing, then slowly gathers percussion, a hypnotic plucked motif, and a low hum that sits underneath everything like heat.

It became a favourite to open sets with, because it gives a room time to settle before anything asks for your attention.
